Including Fruita and Palisade, there are a total of 40 pickleball courts in Grand Junction: 32 in Grand Junction, 4 in Fruita, and 4 in Palisade.
These are dedicated outdoor courts with permanent nets. However there are other pickleball courts with moveable nets, along with some others set up indoors as well, (more on that below).

Like just about everywhere else in the country, pickleball has rapidly gained popularity in Grand Valley. It’s been called America’s fastest growing sport, and in recent years, we’ve seen a huge increase in local demand for pickleball courts.
Fortunately, both public rec officials and private entities have answered the call and built several new courts spread out around the GJ/Fruita/Palisade areas.
Grand Junction, Colorado Pickleball Courts & Hours
There are 24 free public, outdoor pickleball courts in Grand Junction, with two other ones with moveable nets. These can be found at Lincoln Park and at Pineridge Park
Lincoln Park Pickleball Courts
This is the Wimbledon of Grand Junction pickleball, boasting twenty different well-maintained permanent courts.

These busy courts are free to use and lighted at night with International Dark Sky certified LED lights installed in 2024.
The courts are located at Lincoln Park, in the heart of Grand Junction (12th Street and Gunnison Avenue). This used to be the tennis hub of the city, however all of the last remaining tennis courts were converted into pickleball courts in 2024. The park also has a swimming pool, 9 hole golf course and football/baseball stadiums.
In my humble view (and as a former tennis player who used to get destroyed in the Taco Bell Open), there are plenty of tennis courts to meet local demand. In fact, I go to Canyon View quite a bit, but have yet to see anywhere near all of the tennis courts occupied. Eventually I’ll bet some of these get converted to pickleball courts.

November 1st to March 1st | 6 AM to 9 PM |
March 2nd to October 31st | 5 AM to 11 PM |

Pineridge Park Pickleball Courts
The other free outdoor pickleball option in town consists of six courts on the Redlands next to a park situated in the shadow of the Colorado National Monument.
They’re located in the Ridges subdivision, on your way to the gorgeous Redlands Mesa Golf course. When driving towards the Redlands, you’ll take a left (going south) on Ridges Boulevard. It winds its way toward the Colorado National Monument, and you’ll see the courts and park on your right.

The courts sit next to a public playground, and the courts are free and open to the public. There are four dedicated courts here with permanent lines, as well as a tennis court with lines and temporary, moveable nets that brings the capacity to six courts.
There isn’t any outdoor lighting here.
In my first pickleball outing at the Bookcliff Activity Center indoors, I was “encouraged” to try the Pineridge Park courts, as they are apparently the courts to play for beginners and those at lower levels (3.5 or less).

Also, players are encouraged to….not play too early. Specifically they ask that you do not play before 8 AM.
Our local newspaper, the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, runs a column in which readers can send in anonymous complaints or gripes, and there have been some from residents of the Desert Ridge Condos next door that the constant popping from players during early morning hours is driving them crazy.

Orchard Mesa Pickleball Courts
The only pickleball courts on Orchard Mesa are privately-owned courts at the Chipeta Golf Course.

Chipeta is a pretty 18 hole executive golf course (meaning the course is shorter than a regular par 72 hole course with lots of par 3 holes here). The eight fairly new courts here are located steps away from the clubhouse.
Being a private golf course, these courts are not free to play, however they are open to the public. Anyone can play here for a fee and rates are as follows:
Sunday – Saturday $20/hour
Mid-week special: Monday – Friday 1 to 4 PM
In addition, an yearly unlimited pass costs $200 per year. You can also get one for $25 per month.
Inside the clubhouse, paddles and balls are available to rent for $3 per person.
You can make reservations, but I’ve been here a lot and have never seen anyone on the courts. There aren’t any outdoor lights here.

Here’s a map of the outdoor pickleball courts in the Grand Junction area.
While there aren’t any permanent indoor pickleball courts in the area, there are two different indoor courts set up for those who want to get their pickleball fix during the colder months.
City of Grand Junction Pickleball Games
The city of Grand Junction offers plenty of indoor pickleball games, six days a week at the Bookcliff Activity Center (part of Bookcliff Elementary School) at 540 29 ¼ Road.
These are drop-in games at the BAC’s four indoor courts, and the season runs from mid-November to Mid-March
It costs $7 each session. Alternatively, you can purchase a 10 punch pass for $50.
The current schedule can be found at gjcity.org however the 2025 spring games were held Sunday – Friday (except Wednesday) from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Saturday games are 4 PM to 7 PM.
My son and I played here as brand new beginners. While we lost every match, we found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming.
The Bubble
Grand Junction’s only indoor tennis facility offers pickleball courts for rent. These are taped courts on the tennis courts, with mobile nets.
Current rates are $10 per hour and a half, with a minimum of four players needed to rent.
The courts are located next to Sam’s Club, and they do have different pickleball leagues available.

Palisade Pickleball Courts
Peach Bowl Park sits at the corner of 5th Street and Elberta in downtown Palisade.

Previously home to two tennis courts, the town of Palisade converted one of the courts into four pickleball courts. The courts are surrounded by gorgeous views of Mt. Garfield and the Grand Mesa.
Located just east of the swimming pool, there is a water fountain here, but no lights. One tennis court remains, and there is a tennis wall for practice.

Fruita Pickleball Courts
Fruita has been growing at around 1% per year, and many of those newcomers are bringing their love of pickleball with them. Combine that with more and more locals embracing the game, and you’ll see why the Fruita Rec Department decided to convert the old Raptor skate park into a four-court pickleball complex at Orr Park.
Orr Park Pickleball
This brand new facility opened March 11th, 2025, and is located on the east side of the Fruita Community Recreation Center.
It has a shade structure and water fountains, along with the aforementioned four different courts. Two of these are drop-in play, and the other two can be reserved, albeit for a $15 fee here: Fruita pickleball reservations.

Reed Park
Reed Park at 250 S. Elm Street in downtown Fruita has a multi-sport court with drawn in pickleball lines. The park underwent a renovation and looks great, with the new basketball court replacing the old worn out one.
I haven’t played here, but apparently you can access the moveable nets with the code: RPARK or by calling the Fruita Community Center at (970) 858-0360.
Fruita Indoor Pickleball
The spacious and wonderful Fruita Community Center next door to the outdoor pickleball courts plays host to both drop-in games and clinics played on the massive indoor basketball/volleyball courts.
The most recent updated schedule can be best found on Fruita’s website here: Fruita.org.
They also have the occasional pickleball tournament.
Other
- The City of Grand Junction offers several pickleball clinics. These run two hours and there are separate clinics for both beginners and intermediate players.
These clinics are in addition to the summer youth pickleball clinics. We’ve signed our son up for these summer camps and he’s enjoyed them as much as we have enjoyed having him off his phone for two hours.
- The Grand Valley has a thriving pickleball community with the Western Slope Pickleball Club boasting the area having 1,000 players. Based on how Lincoln Park can get filled up on a Sunday in January, I believe those numbers.
Information about joining can be found at Western Slope Pickleballclub.com
