Per the last US Census, Orchard Mesa has a population of just over 6,500 residents. The only grocery store in the area to serve all those folks is the Orchard Mesa City Market. (There is a smaller corner market on 29 Road which we’ll cover further below).
This store on Orchard Mesa is one of four City Markets in Grand Junction.
It’s located in the heart of Orchard Mesa, just off Highway 50 and 27 ¾ Road, in a commercial area surrounded by a Burger King, liquor store, dentist, Wells Fargo ATM, and two different dollar stores, (in case you can’t find what you need at the first one I guess). The area around this City Market is poorly designed, not easy to navigate, and not really attractive in my view. Some grass and trees would be nice.
I couldn’t find exact data, but I believe it’s the oldest City Market in Grand Junction. Despite the plain, dated exterior appearance, the store is clean and spacious inside (although not your typical mega-grocery store), with everything you’d expect from a modern grocery store, including a large produce section, floral department, bakery/deli area, and large pharmacy.
You can also pick up ice and propane from outside stations. In the front center of the store, there is a busy Starbucks (the only one on Orchard Mesa), which has recently undergone remodeling.
The store offers both online grocery Pickup ordering and delivery. I like this little store, as it reminds me of the now-shuttered smaller City Markets we used to have here in town, like the one at 1st Street and Orchard. This Orchard Mesa City Market is easy to navigate, and has everything the mega super markets have, without all the walking and hassle of trying to find stuff.

To the north of the store is a City Market Fuel Center, in which you can use the value points for gas discounts. There are eight gas pumps here, and a little cashier’s stand.

Orchard Mesa City Market Pharmacy Hours
To the far left (as you enter the store), you’ll find the large pharmacy. This is the only pharmacy in Orchard Mesa, so it provides a valuable service for residents of the area, (even if there are online complaints about wait times).
City Market OM pharmacy hours are as follows:

Other
- As with most of the other grocery stores in Grand Junction, the Orchard Mesa City Market, sells beer, wine, hard seltzers, and such, but no hard liquor.
- Per a Grand Junction Daily Sentinel article, over 30,000 cars a day pass by this store.
- This City Market is one of twelve grocery stores in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Orchard Mesa Market
Another, albeit much smaller grocery option, is the Orchard Mesa Market and Asian Groceries, situated right on the intersection of Highway 50 and 29 Road.
You won’t find bear meat at the OM City Market, but you’ll find it here, along with Elk, antelope, brats, salami, summer sausage, and chorizo, along your more typical beef, ribeyes, chicken, etc, at their full service meat counter.
There are fresh fruits and vegetables here, and the store does both propane sales and meat processing.
